Santa Caterina Valfurva, freedom at high altitude
In 1968 a group of young people from the Parish of Brugherio erected an imposing cross on top of Mount Sobretta in memory of the young soldiers who fought here on these mountains during the First World War (1915-1918).
The centuries-old tradition of placing a cross on a mountaintop is linked to various motivations, experiences, and events. Many of the excursions organized by the CAI Valfurva lead to the foot of these characteristic and always unique wooden or metal structures.
On Saturday, August 23, with the CAI and the Brugherio Parish group, it will be possible to retrace the paths of history and memory up to the 3,296 meters of the summit of Mount Sobretta.

8.00 am Ascent by cable car

11.00 am Celebration of Holy Mass at the foot of the cross and descent
h. 1.30pm Arrival at Sunny Valley Mountain Lodge
Convivial lunch based on polenta and typical products
followed by return to S. Caterina by cable car
